Stem Cells

An undifferentiated cell of a multicellular organism which is able of giving rise to uncertainly more cells of the same type, and from which certain other sorts of cells emerge by separation. Stem cells have the capacity to distinguish into particular cell types. The two characterizing characteristics of a stem cell are never-ending self-renewal and the capacity to distinguish into a specialized grown-up cell sort. There are two major classes of stem cells: pluripotent that can become any cell within the grown-up body, and multipotent that are confined to getting to be a more limited population of cells
